FISHING REPORT
5/25/14 9:29 PM CST
Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 66° - 70° F Water Temp: 56° - 60° F
Fished the TFF everyday since last report, had days when they were jumping in the boat and days when we had to work hard to get a limit of fish we wanted to keep. Scott, Laurie and myself worked (sorry is fishing really work?)a lot of water to come up with 9 walleyes we wanted and 6 nice perch. The last couple days we did best In shallow wood 5-6'. It was tangley wood that accumulated many 1/16 oz.slowfall jigs. In my opinion it would have been tough to work a lot of the other weedless jigs and fatheads, through the wood.

Went out thur the 22nd in afternoon by myself looking for some new fish. I tried a flat I hadn't fished yet, used an efficient search method (described on my web page, tactics tab) drifted a short distance had a nice walleye, pressed the mark button, kept drifting caught a lot of nice fish they were spread out over 200 yds. Picked up my customers the next morning showed them some areas to try ,then went to the flat I thought we would make quick work on a nice limit, didn't happen. I told Lon and Jim they were still down there just not biting, try then tomorrow. Stopped by their camp the next day they said they did well on that school at 8am the next day.

When you find fish on a tight spot one day and go back the next and don't catch them, there is a good chance they moved. When they are spread out on big flat they probably just aren't biting, pays to try them again. Caught (released) my biggest fish on a salmo the night I was scouting.

Jim , Lon and I released a 21" kept a few decent fish that morning spent 5-10 minutes longer on spots then I usually would talking deer hunting.

Been reading Docs posts, think LL readers are well served by getting another guides reports with different strategies. I fish a lot of shallow water until early/mid July, about midday today thought about going deeper, but kept on grinding out shallow spots and came up with fish. That's a lot of combined years of fishing the TFF the only thing I ask is to let the bigger walleyes go. We've released a lot of 19" plus fish this year already.

Happy Memorial Day
