| FISHING REPORT 7/7/14 7:28 AM CST Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 76° - 80º F Water Temp: 71° - 75° F Fishing the last week has been good. There were a couple days we had to mine quite a few spots to come up with walleyes. Have done the best on walleyes in 10-12' with bottom comp. of rocks, sand and good wood cover, both horizontal laid down logs and vertical stumps. This is pretty consistent fish catching depth and cover and worth looking for. We have been catching nice smallmouths on the above cover and shallower humps in 6-8 with wood and harder bottom. Also fishing individual pieces of cover for smallmouth. Been releasing fish over 17, trying to keep a few between 15-16". There are a lot of fish between 12"-14-1/2". If you want to keep smallmouth make sure you have a tape in you boat (I know, sounds obvious). Twice this week for shore lunch I had customers who were hesitant to try bass, they were surprised at how good they were, pretty hard to tell from a walleye. If everyone keeps their limit of walleye and no bass it seems to me things will get out of balance. I have a lot of open time from the 11th on. Good fishing to you, enjoy the beauty of the TFF . |
