| FISHING REPORT 1/23/15 12:46 PM CST Ice Depth: 16" Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 26° - 30° F Water Temp: Below 40° F Travel report is the same as the last report (see previous report) a few people are driving trucks out, you can probably get out from Donner's bay or Springstead landing with a 4 wheeler and stay on the packed trails, if you go off the trails far you will encounter slush and likely have problems. Snowmobiles are travelling freely. Having some luck on walleyes and pike , in shallower water, 3-10', shorelines and humps with structure. I have mainly fished late morning until an hour after dark, the best bite has been at sunset and an hour after. I would expect the same bite early morning. Have heard of some crappies and perch being caught in the 20' range in original lake basins. I included a few pictures from last Saturday's outing. Have made a lot of friends through guiding, Jeff and Mark and Mark's kids were some of my first` customers, and they sure can cook! Some of the menu included: beef and pork ribs marinated several ways, sirloin steak again different marinades, in the fryer of coarse some fresh walleye, battered mushrooms, cauliflower, French fries, and battered pickles. Two items I had never had were the pickles , battered and fried (sliced dill), and grilled bacon wrapped asparagus. Jeff and Mark cooked and we ate for 5 hours, if you never had the last two items mentioned give them a try, the food was awesome. |
