A lot of the canoers who are going to stay on that end put in at Murray's landing. You can also put in at fisherman's landing and canoe south then east to get to the area you mentioned. If you want to try to get a campsite with a picnic table, there are closer sites coming from Fisherman's if that is not a concern, coming from Murray's has the advantage of the body of water being a little more wind sheltered as it is winding and narrower. There are a lot of nice sites "r" or rustic sites along your path heading mostly west. There is good fishing on that end of the flowage often in May there are a lot of walleyes still relating to the river channel from their spawning migration east. An 1/8 oz. jig and minnow fishing the holes often works best.

Have fun.
