My journey back to the landing was after sunset, the may flys were really hatching tonight. We saw a lot of shells on the surface today while we were fishing, indicating a good sized hatch probably from last night. Sometimes there are one or two big hatches or it can be a long drawn out series of hatches like last summer.

We've seen a lot of weather changes in the last week, the mood of the walleyes has also had some ups and downs. In two consecutive days this week we caught a total of 30 walleyes counting small released fish, of the 30, 28 were caught before 2pm.  So if you fished with me the first trip of the day you were impressed with the walleye fishery, if in the afternoon you wondered if there were walleyes in the flowage. Today we didn't put together much of a pattern in the morning and in the afternoon we didn't catch a lot of fish but of the 5 we kept 4 were between 16-18" and we released one over 20".

We have been catching smallmouth, perch and a few pike while walleye fishing, today on a shallow wood spot we caught the bigger walleye we released and an 18" smallmouth a few feet apart.

We have been catching fish on both crawlers and fatheads, I've tried leeches a few time and didn't have any takers.

There are panfish being caught in shallow water in weeds and along shore lines. The blue gills I have seen recently have still not spawned, it is easy to tell the males from the females, we've released the females.

I got a chance to fish with Larry Smith a couple weeks ago to do a show with him, it will air this weekend, his show is called Larry Smith Outdoors. One of the channels it can be seen on is Fox Sports the other channels can be found on his web site. Fun guy to fish with.

I also wrote an informative article on fishing the TFF for the Badger Sportsman magazine it will appear in their July/August edition, a great Wisconsin magazine, purchase locations can be found on their web site.
