Post in response to JJB11B

This time of year I sometimes go several days between looking at LL due to a shortage of time. Sometimes see posts I would like to respond to but fall asleep before I do a  post. Had to respond to yours due to the irony.

I had father and son fisherman today new to the flowage they didn't care what kind of fish we caught, tried 5 classic walleye spots came up with one nice walleye, got a text from  guide friend, one of the flowages most successful and long running guides, that the walleyes were really going slow for him also. Didn't need to be hit with a brick on the head. With a shore lunch and one walleye in the hopper, I didn't want to rely on potatos, beans and cole  slaw. We went to a spot in pursuit of perch and instead came up with nice blue gills. With lunch in the live well we were near a spot I came across a couple weeks ago and was really anxious to try. Like I said before I might forget what I walked out to the garage to get but I don't forget fishing spots.

JJB11B I guess you are getting the long story. I will reign myself back in to the topic at hand, (WEEDS)  so about the time you pressed the send button on your report, my customers and I were setting the hooks into walleyes and smb in the weeds. I am not a big weed guy but will fish whatever I have to in order for my customers to catch fish,we didn't get big numbers but caught quality fish of both species in the weeds. My customers used bobbers and I cast a slow fall jig, both crawlers and fat heads.

The weeds we fished for a couple hours today were narrowleaf pondweed, there are others in the tff that hold walleyes and other fish.

Nisif I appreciate your endorsement of hiring a guide. That is an individual decision. I went to Alaska fishing with son Jack a few years back, we fished from the shore and watched drift boats catch salmon and trout on the Kenii River with a steady frequency, are lines were mostly limp. Gave him a choice, drift boat or halibut on the ocean, can't afford both, did the halibut, lot of fun. Last two years in Florida keys the trip and boat rental didn't allow us to hire a guide we got lucky and figured it out , caught a lot of fish ( the old saying, there are a lot of fish in the ocean may more aptly  apply). The fish haven't been jumping in the boat the last couple of weeks but most days the fishing has been ok. I sincerely believe that good fisherman could go to the Dakotas, Minnesota and I know one of the midwest's best fisheries, the  winnebago system and struggle, the TFF is no different.

I know the Mercer guides will try hard to catch fish, I have open time in July and August if I am booked I refer calls to Don Pemble if you are interested in walleyes.
