My wife and I have been fishing the Mercer/Turtle Flambeau flowage for the past 3 years.  We come up every year to visit friends and fish.  On my friends advice, we hired Jeff for an all day / shore lunch guided trip.  At first I wasn't sure, but hindsight being what it is, I don't think we will be fishing the flowage without Jeff's services anymore.  The flowage is a dangerous place for boats but with Jeff's 30+ years of experience on these waters, he navigates it as surely as walking through his kitchen.  And his kitchen it is.  His shore lunch cooked on one of the many camping islands was simply amazing.  Pan fired walleye, potatoes and beans better than any old school Wisconsin supper club.

As for the fishing?  Jeff works harder than anyone to make sure you get fish.  He was on the water hours before we got to the lake, marking out spots and coming up with a plan of action.  We went from one spot to the next, fishing them out and then moving on.  How he finds all these humps and boulder piles in the middle of thousands of acres of water is beyond me, but find them he did, and the fish came with them.  We caught smallmouth at nearly every stop we made and there is nothing like a Turtle Flambeau smallmouth.  They make fish taken elsewhere look anorexic.  By the end of the day, we had a great catch of keeper walleye and even some northern pike after Jeff humored my request to fish them.  Jeff is a great guide, and great down-to-earth guy.  Highly recommended.
